That’s what I want to be-a friend of people.

I want to stand by the way, waiting for weary travelers.

To look for those who have been battered and wronged by others,

who carry the burden of a wounded and disillusioned heart.

To nourish and refresh them with an encouraging word

and send them on their way.

I may not be able to “fix” them or their problems,

but I can leave them with a blessing.

사람들의 친구가 되는 것, 그것이 바로 내가 원하는 것입니다.

나는 피곤한 여행자들을 기다리며 길가에 서 있고 싶습니다.

다른 이들에게 짓밟히고 상처받은 이들,

상처받고 환멸을 느끼는 마음의 짐을 지고 있는 이들을 찾아,

용기를 북돋는 말로 그들을 먹이고

새롭게 하여 여정을 계속 할 수 있도록 돕고 싶습니다.

내가 비록 그들이나 그들의 문제를 ‘해결할’ 수 없을지는 몰라도,

그들을 축복하며 보낼 수는 있습니다.
