노라는 자신의 작은 몸을 문과 브리짓 사이에 밀어 넣으며 “떠나기 전에 제가 당신을 안아주고 당신을 위해 기도해도 될까요?”라고 물었습니다. 그때까지 불순한 의도 말고는 안아준 사람이 아무도 없었던 브리짓이었습니다. 갑자기 예기치 않았던 눈물이 흘렀습니다.

브리짓의 과거는 복잡합니다. (우리 중에도 많은 사람이 비슷한 경험을 했을 것입니다.) 그날 진정한 사랑을 만나보기 전까지 그녀는 하나님과 하나님을 믿는 사람들은 자기를 정죄만 할 것이라고 믿었습니다. 그런 그녀에게 노라는 다른 것을 보여주었습니다. 상상할 수 없을 만큼 우리를 사랑하시기 때문에 우리의 죄를 못 본 척하지 않으시는 하나님 말입니다. 하나님은 두 팔 벌려 우리를 맞아주십니다. 우리는 계속 달아날 필요가 없습니다.

Bridget’s history is complex. (Many of us can relate.) Until she ran into real love that day, her belief had been that God and His followers would only condemn her.
