Straight Ahead 똑바로 가기

요시야라는 이름을 기억하실 것입니다. 겨우 “여덟 살” 때 왕위에 올랐던 (열왕기하 22:1) 그가 세월이 지나 20대 중반이 되었을 때 대제사장 힐기야가 성전에서 “율법책”을 발견하였습니다(8절). 그 젊은 왕에게 율법책을 읽어주자 그는 그의 조상들이 하나님께 불순종한 것을 슬퍼하며 그의 옷을 찢었습니다. 요시야는 “여호와 보시기에 정직히”(2절) 행하기 시작했습니다. 율법책은 사람들이 좌로나 우로 치우치지 않게 방향을 잡아주는 도구가 되었습니다. 모든 것을 바로 가게 하는 하나님의 교훈이 율법책에 있었습니다.

매일 성경말씀이 우리를 인도하도록 맡기면, 살면서 계속 하나님과 그분의 뜻을 알아가게 됩니다. 우리가 따르기만 한다면 성경은 계속 똑바로 가게 해주는 아주 놀라운 도구입니다.


You may recall the name Josiah. He was crowned king when he was only “eight years old” (2 Kings 22:1). Years later, in his mid-twenties, Hilkiah the high priest found “the Book of the Law” in the temple ( v. 8). It was then read to the young king, who tore his robes in sorrow due to his ancestors’ disobedience to God. Josiah set about to do what was “right in the eyes of the Lord” ( v. 2). The book became a tool to steer the people so there would be no turning to the right or left. God’s instructions were there to set things straight.

Allowing the Scriptures to guide us day by day keeps our lives in line with knowing God and His will. The Bible is an amazing tool that, if followed, keeps us moving straight ahead.-JOHN BLASE
